Seems like for $36 million, deviantArt has been purchased by Wix.com, which is a website design company looking to develop, diversify, and expand its platforms and services to its users. According to the PR I read:
Wix.com will be making dA's art galleries available to Wix's other platform users to add to their website building and design options. I'm not sure what this means in terms of payments to artists here, or to privacy and copyright issues. I'm also not sure what this means to those of us in the kink quarter of the dA community. I'm sure we will eventually find out. In the meantime, I'd heartily suggest that artists take steps to protect and back up their submissions, and be prepared to delete all artwork and deactivate their accounts, if things don't go well.
